17th of May is a huge deal for Norwegians. It is our National Day, celebrating the signing of the Norwegian Constitution in Eidsvoll, 17 May 1814.
This is the day we wear our bunads, the traditional outfits decorated with ornate silver and gold jewellery, and red, white and blue ribbons. We parade waving our red, white and blue flag while singing the national anthem - "Ja, vi elsker dette landet", written by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. If you want to do something different on this day, we would love to see you aboard. We will serve you cava, strawberries and prawns, something typical Norwegian on this day. On this year´s trip we were very lucky to see lots of dolphins on our way towards Gibraltar, see videos below.
