Tealie is a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42.2 sailboat, registered under Spanish flag Zone 1, which lets us sail worldwide. We are also registered as an autónomo (private company) which allows us to do charters and invite clients to come sail with us.
Tealie was built in 1999 and has kept her original and charming wooden interior and floors. She measures 12,8 m. long and 4,10 m. wide and is a big and comfortable boat with four cabins, two bathrooms, a big saloon with two sofas, dining table and kitchen with fridge, a gas stove with two cookers. See layout below.
We had a dream of sometime owning a sailboat and our dream finally came true in September 2021 when Tealie came into our lives. This girl has proven to be a robust and remarkable boat, who has given us many great memories and trips with family and friends, and lately with clients.
She showed her true self on the Atlantic ocean in December 2022, from Lanzarote to Tanger. She took us through a horrendous 36 hour storm hitting 11 on the Beaufort scale but drifted like a queen through the rough waters, not caring about the rain, thunder and lightning or the powerful winds. When we couldn´t control her anymore we let go of the helm and for ten dark and wet, and terrifying hours we were at her mercy drifting through the storm. After this rough experience we learned that she stands whatever comes her way, and so do we as skippers. We therefore continue with even greater confidence to offer majestic sunrise, romantic sunset and glorious full moon cruises, whatever suits you and your company.
WHY TEALIE?
Coming up with a name for this wonderful girl took some time and imagination. We finally ended up with
TEALIE which is an acronym for our four parents (
Torfinn,
Erna,
Arne,
Lilli),
Itaca, our puppy that we lost in a tragic drowning accident a few years back and Heidi's stepmother,
Elisabeth. Unfortunately four of these souls are not with us today but are forever in our hearts and are together with us on all our sailing trips.
SAFETY
Safety is at the very top of our list of priorities. Tealie has life vests for ten adults, one kid and two small dogs. Aboard you will find all the necessary technical equipment like a radar, GPS, VHF and AIS for tracking us on our way. There is also a life raft for 10 persons, an EPIRB, emergency flares and a complete medicine kit.
Tealie is a Category A sailboat, i.e. a strong boat, and only these can be certified for Zone 1 - worldwide sailing.
We do not take any chances with guests aboard and always check the weather before heading out. If the weather is too rough and the guests have a flexible timeline we always recommend going out another day.
For those especially interested in safety aboard :
Royal Decree 339/2021, of May 18, regulating the safety and pollution prevention equipment of recreational vessels. This is in Spanish but you can translate it into your preferred language in your browser.
