LA GOMERAAfter six days in Tenerife, and half way through our 44 day trip, we left Santa Cruz and headed west to San Sebastián de La Gomera, the captial of La Gomera, and arrived just past sunset. La Gomera is the second-smallest of the seven Canary Islands. On our second day we invited the Trim1 crew to breakfast aboard and then checked out the rental car business. It was no easy affair as they were quite fully booked but in the end we managed to rent a car each. We had a lovely day driving around the island, passing through spectacular rough mountainous and lush nature, visiting Mirador de Abrante and driving through Garajonay National Park. We ended up lunching at Valle del Rey and left the Trim1 crew to drive back to San Sebastián.The next day they delivered their car and sailed with us to Playa Santiago where we anchored next to them and were invited aboard. Eli, the tough Viking, had a swim before we joined Trim1 and were served home-made fish soup with self-caught fish. A short story! We were on deck enjoying each other´s company and some drinks when Glenda interrupted and said Tealie was drifting. Yeah yeah cheers! Your boat is drifting, she tried again. Yeah yeah cheers! The third time we had to pay attention and sure enough, Tealie had drifted quite far out to sea. John and Harald dived into the dinghy and sped off to save her from disappearing too far out. Thanks Glenda 🙏 We have since bought a new anchor! During our seven days in La Gomera we tried sailing to El Hierro, the smallest of the seven Canary Islands, but came only half way before we had to return to Playa Santiago. The weather was too rough and we didn´t want to risk it. At around 8 am on our 7th day in La Gomera we started our journey back east to Marina San Miguel/Amarilla marina on the south-east side of Tenerife. We had said our goodbyes to Trim1 and would not see them again. They were crossing the Atlantic over to the Caribbean and we were slowly but surely making our way back north and home. Thanks to Sina, Glenda and John for some precious memories 🙏 Follow us to Tenerife (Marina San Miguel) Go back to Tenerife (Santa Cruz) Back to start Start of a new day
