DAY 3 & 4 - SAILING NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN
Our 3rd and 4th day on the North Atlantic Ocean. Not much to see but a beautiful sunrise and sunset, a grasshopper and a southern green shield bug (Nezara viridula). We tried to fish but some bugger tore the line leaving us with what we believe was a Monarch butterfly as a consolation prize.
Desperate for some company we fed the grasshopper some lettuce to keep it aboard, but it disappeared after a while, obviously bored with the bland diet. Where all these three insects came from so far out at sea and miles away from land is a mystery. We are guessing the wind and air currents and the Monarch can fly 100s of miles each day, but the grasshopper and bug?
On the afternoon of day 3 we finally got enough wind to hoist the Spinnaker.
