FULL MOON CRUISE

If you love a full moon and a starlit sky out at sea, this is the trip to take. How long it takes is up to you.

Taking a full moon cruise isn't necessarily only about the moon, it is also about the stars and the planets that can be seen with the naked eye, and out on the open sea the sky is spectacular.

If the full moon happens during the night the trip will be something special and what we see depends on the season and time of day. The first light to appear on the night sky is Venus like a bright light bulb, and depending on the time of year you will be able to see the other planets with the naked eye, except Neptune and Uranus, who are too far away.

This year we will be lucky to see eight meteor showers, the first one being Lyrids in April. The zodiac constellations are also up there to see, again depending on season, and of course the most common constellations are visible all year round, like Orion with his belt, Ursa major and Casseopeia. . We have binoculars aboard to help with visibility, to see those far away stars and planets. If you are not an avid stargazer, we will point them out for you.

THE TRIP

Because the time of the full moon varies so much, from early afternoon to late night, the trip will start at varying hours. But we are flexible, so midnight or noon, we will take you out there.

Because of these different hours, the is similar to both the Sunrise and the Sunset cruises. Depending on the season both the sun and the full moon might be up at the same time, and on the same trip you might see at magical sunrise or a spectacular sunset and a starlit sky. Who knows what nature will bring us?

The trip starts when you are safely aboard and are served a welcome drink, our preference being something chilled and bubbly, but other options are of course available. On the brightest days we can guarantee you spectacular views of the meeting of three countries and two continents. Spain and Gibraltar in Europe and Morocco on the northern coast of Africa.

If time permits, before bringing Tealie back to her berth we will take a ten minute detour down the canal to the inner parts of Sotogrande marina, past the luxurious and colourful apartments at the frontline of the canal.

PRECAUTIONS AND TIPS

MOTION SICKNESS

Motion sickness is the worst, especially wobbling on a sailboat with no immediate escape. However, if you tend to get motion sick, don't worry, there are some precautions to take before and during the trip.

Before the trip
During the trip
If nothing of the above helps, we will give you a bucket and head back to Sotogrande.
